Sapphire Description

A sapphire of this extraordinary size and quality is exceptionally rare, making this 20.87 carat unheated cornflower blue gemstone a truly remarkable choice for bespoke jewellery or a prestigious investment. Its vibrant hue recalls the celebrated tone admired in a fine Ceylon Sapphire, combining brightness with a soft, velvety depth. The impressive scale of the stone gives it commanding presence while retaining refinement and balance.

Unheated sapphires are especially prized for preserving their natural colour and clarity without enhancement. Much like an important Ceylon Sapphire, this gemstone reveals luminous transparency and remarkable saturation, qualities that significantly elevate its rarity and long-term value. Its untreated status ensures authenticity, appealing to collectors who seek gemstones in their purest and most desirable form.

With its vivid cornflower blue hue and exceptional clarity, this sapphire is undeniably a statement gemstone. The cushion cut enhances brilliance, allowing light to move fluidly across its facets and produce an elegant, radiant sparkle. Comparable in prestige to a museum-worthy Ceylon Sapphire, it offers both aesthetic magnificence and investment significance. Ethically sourced and carefully selected, this rare gem represents enduring luxury, refinement, and lasting value.

Some of our rarer or high value stones are certified in Sri Lanka, but will be sent to get certified by the GIA or SSEF Switzerland upon purchase. If you are interested in any of our rarer collection sapphires please do get in touch with the contact form below.

Imaging Accuracy

We understand that it can be hard to assess loose sapphires colours from photos alone. All our images and videos are taken by a specialist gemstone imaging company who produce images to 99% colour accuracy with ISO standard natural daylight in high magnification. This ensures you will get the best view for colour, clarity and any visible inclusions.

Whilst this is the most accurate representation of the stones colours, sapphire colours vary depending on the lighting conditions.

Certification

All our sapphires come certified, guaranteeing authentic natural sapphires from Sri Lanka. This will come in the form of a certificate on delivery of the sapphire. Certain stones may include extra certification by GIA or SSEF Switzerland, this will be highlighted in the description. Please do contact us if you wish to discuss any certifications.

Clarity Rating

While some sapphires can appear "eye-clean" (meaning no inclusions are visible to the naked eye), most natural sapphires do contain inclusions, which are considered natural characteristics and not necessarily flaws.

Our sapphires are graded in the below format:

VVS (Very Very Slightly Included):These sapphires have very, very small inclusions that are difficult to see even under 10x magnification.

VS (Very Slightly Included):These sapphires have minor inclusions that are clearly visible under 10x magnification, but they might be difficult to see with the naked eye.

SI (Slightly Included):These sapphires have noticeable inclusions that are easy to observe under 10x magnification, and some may be visible to the naked eye.

I (Included):These sapphires have obvious inclusions that are easily visible under 10x magnification and may affect transparency and brilliance.
