Sapphire Description

This exceptional 1.7 carat bi-colour blue and yellow sapphire, expertly cut in a striking octagon shape, is a distinctive choice for a refined ring or bespoke fine jewellery. Its remarkable blend of blue and golden tones creates a captivating contrast, reminiscent of the nuanced character sometimes admired in a rare Ceylon Sapphire. The clean, architectural lines of the octagon cut lend a contemporary edge while preserving balance and symmetry.

Showcasing a mesmerising interplay of colour, this natural gemstone reveals impressive clarity and light performance. Much like an unusual Ceylon Sapphire, it displays depth and individuality, with each hue clearly defined yet harmoniously blended. The precise faceting enhances brilliance, allowing light to reflect crisply across its step-cut facets and emphasise its geometric elegance.

Ideal for a bespoke jewellery piece that truly stands out, this sapphire pairs beautifully with both platinum and yellow gold settings. Comparable in rarity to a distinctive Ceylon Sapphire, it offers collectors something beyond the traditional single-tone gem. Whether crafted into a one-of-a-kind ring or added to a growing gemstone collection, this rare stone embodies beauty, quality, and enduring value to be treasured for generations.

Imaging Accuracy

We understand that it can be hard to assess loose sapphires colours from photos alone. All our images and videos are taken by a specialist gemstone imaging company who produce images to 99% colour accuracy with ISO standard natural daylight in high magnification. This ensures you will get the best view for colour, clarity and any visible inclusions.

Whilst this is the most accurate representation of the stones colours, sapphire colours vary depending on the lighting conditions.

Certification

All our sapphires come certified, guaranteeing authentic natural sapphires from Sri Lanka. This will come in the form of a certificate on delivery of the sapphire. Certain stones may include extra certification by GIA or SSEF Switzerland, this will be highlighted in the description. Please do contact us if you wish to discuss any certifications.

Clarity Rating

While some sapphires can appear "eye-clean" (meaning no inclusions are visible to the naked eye), most natural sapphires do contain inclusions, which are considered natural characteristics and not necessarily flaws.

Our sapphires are graded in the below format:

VVS (Very Very Slightly Included):These sapphires have very, very small inclusions that are difficult to see even under 10x magnification.

VS (Very Slightly Included):These sapphires have minor inclusions that are clearly visible under 10x magnification, but they might be difficult to see with the naked eye.

SI (Slightly Included):These sapphires have noticeable inclusions that are easy to observe under 10x magnification, and some may be visible to the naked eye.

I (Included):These sapphires have obvious inclusions that are easily visible under 10x magnification and may affect transparency and brilliance.
